Willsboro
The Town of Willsboro was named after William Gilliland, a land speculator and explorer, who bought large areas of land along
Lake Champlain starting in 1765. As part of his explorations he discovered Ausable Chasm.
Samuel Adsit built a cabin for his
family of 16 on Willsboro Bay in 1778.  Late, many of the early settlers were from Connecticut.
