In 1829, the Town of Westville was formed from the Town of Constable. It was called Westville because it was the west half of
what remained of the original town after Fort Covington had been annexed from it. Dr.
Amos Welch from Grand Isle, Vermont,
was the first person who settled in the present town in 1800.
