The Town of Ticonderoga was formed on March 31, 1904 after separating from the Town of Crown Point.
Ticonderoga is an Iroquois word meaning, "land between the waters" which describes its position between
Lake Champlain and Lake George.  Samuel Deall, a wealthy New York merchant, is credited with developing
the land around Ticonderoga but he abandoned everything he had and returned to England when the Revolution
broke out.
