Mooers Forks
The Town of Mooers was formed from the Town of Champlain on March 20, 1804. The Town of Ellenburgh was
subsequently removed from the Town of Mooers in 1830. The town was named after Major General Benjamin
Mooers, an early settler and prominent citizen.  The first settler was Joshua C. Bosworth, who arrived in 1796.
