On March 2, 1805, the Town of Harrison was formed from the Town of Chateaugay and included townships # 6
and #9 of Great Tract #1. It was named after Richard Harrison.
On April 18, 1808, the name was changed to Ezraville in honor of
Ezra L'Hommedieu.
Later, on June 12, 1812 it finally became Malone in honor of
Edmund Malone, an Irish Shakespearean scholar
who had recently died.   The first settlements were made near Malone village by
Enos, Nathan, and John Wood
from St. Albans, VT in 1802.
