1876 Town of Brandon, NY
The Town of Brandon was separated from the Town of Bangor on January 28, 1828. It originally contained seven
townships. Later, in 1883, one and a half townships were detached and given to the Town of Harrietstown. Still
later, another four and a half townships were isolated to form the Town of Santa Clara.
Brandon was named
after the Town of Brandon, Vermont, the original residence of many of the first settlers.
